Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Walthamstow, London Contract: Ongoing, Term time only Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am-3:45pm

About the Role We are a recruitment agency working on behalf of a 3-form entry mainstream primary school in Walthamstow, who are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a Year 5 class. This role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs, including children who may present challenging and physically demanding behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN within a Year 5 classroom
  • Support the class teacher with learning activities and behaviour management strategies
  • Assist pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour support
  • Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and other professionals
  • Ensure pupils' safety, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a primary school setting
  • Experience supporting children with challenging and/or physical behaviour is essential
  • Calm, resilient, and patient approach to behaviour management
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • A qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or an equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential
