Night Concierge Supported Livining

Description

The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week, working Monday - Sunday on a rota basis covering 10PM - 8AM shifts. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1-2 months possible extension due to performance. In this position, you will be required to:

  • Provide overnight waking cover, ensuring the safety and security of the office base and four supported houses
  • Act as the first point of contact for residents during the night, responding to calls on the duty phone with warmth, clarity and reassurance
  • Offer emotional containment and practical guidance to residents who may be experiencing anxiety, distress or uncertainty overnight
  • Communicate with residents in a respectful, person-centred way that recognises individual experiences and needs
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents, acting in line with local procedures and escalating concerns where required
  • Liaise with emergency services and out-of-hours partner agencies, when necessary, always representing the organisation professionally
  • Protect the service buildings through regular checks, monitoring of CCTV systems and site visits as required
  • Control access to buildings and respond to reports of unwanted visitors or security concerns promptly and proportionately
  • Accurately record all overnight activity, incidents and significant contacts using agreed recording systems
  • Ensure that events of significance are clearly documented and communicated to day staff through effective handovers
  • Maintain clear and consistent boundaries while offering a supportive and steady presence overnight
  • Support residents to feel safe, heard and understood, using de-escalation and reassurance wherever possible
  • Identify, record and report health and safety, repair or maintenance issues in line with agreed procedures
  • Take responsibility for lone working and personal safety, following fire, safeguarding and local overnight procedures.

Please note; this role involves loneworking.

To apply for this role candidates must have;

  • Experience of working with adults experiencing long-term mental health conditions or in related support environments.
  • An understanding of Psychologically Informed Environments and strengths-based approaches and how these translate into overnight support
  • Awareness of safeguarding principles and the importance of proportionate responses overnight
  • Knowledge of maintaining professional boundaries while offering emotional reassurance and support
  • Ability to remain calm, grounded and reassuring in emotionally charged or uncertain situations
  • Strong listening and communication skills, particularly when supporting people by phone
  • Confidence working independently overnight, with sound judgement about when to act and when to escalate
  • Good written skills to ensure accurate and meaningful recording of overnight activity
  • Basic IT skills to formation and communicate effectively with the wider team
  • Ability to stay alert, manage motivation and prioritise tasks during night shifts
