Finance Manager

  • Annual Salary: £45,000-£50,000
  • Location: Outskirts of Maldon
  • Job Type: Full-time, fixed term contract (circa 8 months)

Reed Finance are partnering with our client, an established leader in their field, who are seeking a Finance Manager on a fixed term basis to lead and direct the activities of the finance department.

This pivotal role involves developing organisational strategies, supporting budget planning, forecasting, and the preparation of monthly group reports and annual accounts. The successful candidate will work closely with the Group Finance Director and other department heads, providing crucial financial insights and support.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Produce monthly management accounts and sales reporting forecasts in line with the monthly reporting timetable.
  • Collaborate with department heads and senior managers on the production of annual departmental budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Handle VAT returns and group analysis monthly.
  • Analyse expected margins, financial variances, and perform financial modelling from various systems.
  • Produce annual accounts and assist the Group FD in developing the finance strategy.
  • Manage external and internal audit communications efficiently.
  • Provide cover for accounts payable and receivable as required.
  • Take responsibility for invoicing processing, commission reporting and payment, maintaining the fixed asset register, and managing cash including petty cash.
  • Produce comprehensive and well-presented reports in Excel.
  • Work with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing and manage PAYE/NIC contribution records.
  • Handle insurance-related matters including annual review and renewal.
  • Support company continual improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBE with the relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience applying accounting standards and principles, legislation, and financial management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the review, interpretation, and analysis of accounting information.
  • Excellent IT literacy, proficient in using ERP systems and MS Excel.
