Location: Walsall, West Midlands Pay Rate: £28.55 - £33.30 per hour (Umbrella) Contract: Full-Time | Agency | Hybrid Working

Walsall Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Social Worker to join their Children in Care (CIC) team, providing high-quality support to vulnerable children and young people in care. Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of Looked After Children in foster care, residential placements, or at home
• Undertake statutory visits, ensuring care and pathway plans are progressing effectively
• Conduct assessments, risk analysis, and care planning in line with safeguarding legislation
• Coordinate and participate in care planning meetings, reviews, PEPs, and placement stability meetings
• Collaborate with parents, carers, guardians, and multi-agency professionals to secure positive outcomes
• Maintain accurate case records, reports, and documentation according to council policies
• Provide guidance and support to children and families to promote resilience and independence
• Participate in the team's duty system as required

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker (Degree/Diploma in Social Work)
• Social Work England registration
• Experience in Children in Care services, including foster care and residential placements
• Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding legislation, and statutory duties
• Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
• Ability to manage a complex caseload while delivering high-quality practice
• Commitment to positive outcomes for children and young people in care
