Senior Skilled Vehicle/Plant TechnicianCarbon60 is looking to recruit aSenior Skilled Vehicle/Plant Technicianto work for Client based inST1.ROLE:Senior Skilled Vehicle/Plant Technician - Fleet WorkshopsPAY RATE:£31.21 Per hour UmbrellaJOB TYPE: Contract- 13 WeeksLOCATION: Stoke-on-Trent, (ST1)HOURS: 37 hours/ weekTHE ROLE:Main duties & responsibilities:Diagnose, repair and maintain council vehicles, plant and equipment (diesel, petrol, gas, electric).Resolve electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical faults, including specialist fleet vehicles (refuse, sweepers, gully trucks, buses).Carry out welding, fabrication, bodywork repairs and general engineering tasks.Complete safety inspections to Vehicle Inspectorate standards and prepare vehicles for MOT/Plating tests.Attend breakdowns, perform roadside repairs or arrange recovery as required.Conduct MOT testing (Class 4, 5, 7) and complete all inspection/repair documentation accurately.Move, manoeuvre and test-drive vehicles safely for diagnostics and post-repair checks.Use diagnostic equipment and workshop computer systems for job cards, parts, and vehicle records.Support training, supervision and work-quality checks for apprentices and technicians.Deliver/collect vehicles from suppliers and ensure compliant, safe repairs.Assist with compliance checks, including stop-and-check activities and fleet processes.Follow Health & Safety standards, complete required paperwork, and participate in call-out rotas.Essential skills / experience / qualifications:2+ years' experience in vehicle/plant maintenance within a workshop environment.NVQ Level 2/3 in Motor Vehicle or Plant Maintenance (or equivalent).VOSA-recognised LGV Safety/Roadworthiness Inspection certification.Qualified (or training) MOT Tester with strong knowledge of MOT procedures.Technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Experience supervising/mentoring junior staff or apprentices.Able to use diagnostic tools and basic IT systems/software.Strong Health & Safety knowledge and safe working practice awareness.Good communication skills and professional approach.Physically capable of completing workshop and roadside tasks.LGV Category C licence (C+E desirable).Guidant, Carbon60, Lorien & SRG - The Impellam Group Portfolio are acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
