Giving Back Recruitment is partnering with a respected, mission-driven education charity to appoint an experiencedInterim Project Accountantto support a short-term programme of finance systems and process improvement.This is a hands-on interim role, suited to an experienced charity finance professional who enjoys project-based work, problem-solving and improving financial systems and reporting. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, tools and controls across the organisation.About the roleAs Interim Project Accountant, you will support finance and operational projects that improve the efficiency, accuracy and accessibility of financial information. You will work collaboratively across teams, translating finance requirements into practical, user-friendly solutions in a fast-paced, purpose-led environment.Key responsibilities include:Supporting the COO and Head of Finance with analysis for recurring reporting cycles and ad-hoc requestsContributing to finance systems improvement projects, identifying reporting challenges and implementing solutionsSupporting finance process improvement initiatives to address inefficienciesDeveloping recurring and ad-hoc reporting tools, including automated controls for completeness and accuracySupporting the development of budget tools aligned to organisational structuresAssisting with balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger verificationResponding to stakeholder queries and developing clear, user-friendly finance solutionsPerson specificationEssentialExperience supporting a broad range of finance activities within a medium-sized organisation, including charity finance experienceStrong analytical skills and a systematic, solution-focused approach to problem-solvingExperience of financial systems, with a passion for using technology to improve finance processes and reportingExcellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracyA collaborative approach to business partnering and cross-functional workingFlexible, proactive and delivery-focused mindsetDesirablePart-qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA)Experience of XLedgerProject management experienceContract detailsInterim contract for three months0.8 FTE (equivalent to four days per week)Day rate: £236 per dayRemote working with travel to London up to once per weekEquality, diversity and inclusionThe organisation is committed to being an equal opportunities employer and to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
