Rate: Hourly rate (Umbrella, Inside IR35) Duration: Initially until September 2026 Location: County Hall, Leicester - Office Based

Venn Group are supporting the recruitment of an experienced Transport Officer to support the delivery of passenger transport services across the county. This is a great opportunity to join the Highways & Transportation team at a time of high demand, helping ensure services remain effective, efficient, and compliant.

Responsibilities:

• Effective planning and procurement of passenger transport services, including annual review and reallocation of school transport
• Maintain accurate records and management information, including databases and manual systems
• Coordinate inspections of contract timekeeping, operation, and compliance
• Liaise with contractors, operators, schools, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure services run smoothly
• Provide guidance on transport standards, licensing, and safety requirements
• Assist in developing and monitoring business processes and efficiency reviews

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong experience in transport operations, planning or procurement
• Good knowledge of passenger transport operational issues and legislation (Transport Act 2000, Concessionary Bus Travel Act 2007)
• Excellent organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
• Strong IT skills, particularly with MS Office and database systems
• Effective communication and negotiation skills to work with contractors, stakeholders, and the public
• Experience working within local government transport or similar environments (desirable)
• Management and transport experience
