Billing & Accounts Officer (Band 3C)

  • Admin & ClericalLocation:SuttonContract:3-month rolling contractRecruiter: XXXX XXXX Recruitment is currently seeking aBilling & Accounts Officer (Band 3C)to support a local authority on a rolling 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing team committed to delivering homes and communities where residents feel happy, supported, and secure.About the RoleReporting to theBilling & Accounts Manager, you will play a key role in managing service charge and major works accounts, ensuring accuracy, excellent customer service, and effective income recovery.You will work in line with organisational values:High Performing,One Team,Make It Happen, andExcellent Customer Service.Key ResponsibilitiesManage service charge and major works accounts, ensuring timely contact with leaseholders.Provide clear information on payment options and signpost customers to appropriate advice when needed.Refer eligible service charge and major works debts to external solicitors.Recommend debts/credits for write-off or write-on as required.Process refunds and monitor direct debit payments, including BACS report actions.Take payments over the phone via debit or credit card.Encourage and set up direct debit payment arrangements.Assist with the calculation and production of service charge actuals and invoices.Respond to correspondence, calls, emails, and complaints within service standards.Attend resident forums or meetings with the Council and external agencies when required.Collaborate with colleagues across Neighbourhoods, Property Services, and Finance.Support occasional evening or Saturday work (TOIL provided).Undertake any additional duties within the scope of the grade.Key OutcomesSupport the organisation’s financial sustainability through effective debt recovery and accurate service charge management.Ensure leaseholders understand their responsibilities and that debts are recovered in a firm but empathetic manner.Contribute to high-quality customer service and the timely charging of services for leaseholders.Essential Skills & ExperienceStrong customer service background with a commitment to continuous improvement.Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good numeracy and literacy skills.Confident user of IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Flexible approach to workload and team support.Ability to meet personal and team targets.DesirableGCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (business insurance desirable).Experience working within local authority or housing environments.Additional InformationDBS:Enhanced DBS may be required.Hours:Occasional evenings/weekends may be required.If you are a motivated, customer-focused professional with strong account management skills, we would love to hear from you.Apply today through Aatom Recruitment and ask XXXX XXXX Patel Billing & Accounts Officer (Band 3C)
