We are currently recruiting for an experiencedMaintenance Surveyorto join the Reactive Repairs team, supporting Southern Housing in delivering a high-quality and responsive void property repair service.Location:Sittingbourne (with travel across Kent)Rate:£27.00 per hour (Umbrella)Start:ASAPThe RoleYou will play a key role in ensuring Southern Housing’s void properties are inspected, repaired, and handed back to the highest standards. Working closely with contractors, you will oversee repairs from pre- to post-inspection, ensuring work is delivered on time, within scope, and in full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and health & safety requirements.Based primarily in the Sittingbourne office, this role will require regular travel across the Kent region. Hybrid working may be available depending on service needs.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out detailed pre and post inspections of void properties.Manage and monitor contractors to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance.Ensure all works meet statutory, regulatory, and health & safety standards.Provide technical expertise on building maintenance, construction defects, and preventative solutions.Prepare clear and accurate reports using appropriate IT tools.Support the delivery of an efficient and customer-focused Reactive Repairs service.What You’ll NeedProven experience as a Building or Maintenance Surveyor within a repairs/maintenance environment.Strong understanding of building regulations, codes of practice, standards, materials, and H&S legislation.Knowledge of construction methodology, common defects, and mitigation approaches.Understanding of procurement law, contract types, and contract management.Competent IT skills, including report writing in Word and Excel.Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
