Supply Teacher (Secondary Teacher)

Starting September

Pay: £140

  • £200 per day

Astro Education is seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Supply Teachers to support secondary schools across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. This role is ideal for both experienced teachers and ECTs (Early Career Teachers) who are looking for flexibility while continuing to make a positive impact in the classroom.

Assignments are available across a range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, Geography, IT, History, PE, RE, Art and Design, and Food Technology, offering diverse teaching experiences in a variety of school settings.

About the Opportunity

As a Supply Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons and maintain learning continuity in the absence of the regular class teacher. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen your classroom practice, gain experience across multiple schools, and maintain a healthy work-life balance through flexible scheduling.

This is an excellent opportunity for both seasoned educators and new teachers to expand their teaching experience while making a meaningful contribution to students’ learning journeys.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons across a variety of subjects and age groups.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports effective learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth lesson delivery and learning continuity.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to new environments.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Passion for education and commitment to student development.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (valid visa and overseas police check if applicable).
  • Relevant references covering the last two years of employment.
