Job Description, Qualification:

A Software Application Engineer working within Alstom's Trackside Signaling System Specific Application team plays a key role in developing and configuring software that ensures safe and efficient train operations. They work with specialized railway signalling systems that communicate with trains to control speed, movement, and track usage. This role involves adapting and integrating software to meet the unique requirements of each railway project. The engineer also performs testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure the software functions reliably in real-world conditions.

As an application design engineer you will be responsible for railway signaling design of specific application which includes:

• Analyze and understand system requirements for the railway signaling system and decide about technical solutions related to application design/configuration considering applicable internal and external railway rules and regulations.

•Create and deliver specific application software configuration and documentation in accordance with applicable internal procedures to secure quality and safety.

•Continuously improve system knowledge and ways of working in a structured manner.

•Confidence testing and troubleshooting of site specific application

Configuration of Specific Applications SW is based on design basis documents and design basis products using EBItool/MX.

•Design basis documents corresponds to “förprojektering”/bygghandling signal

•Design basis products corresponds to Generic Products and Generic Application which includes both SW as well as process descriptions, instructions and application information detailing how to execute.

•EBItool/MX is the internally developed configuration tool.

Competences

•Good communication skills in order to handle project and competence area communication efficiently

•Ability to understand technical details and relate to system view in order to make the proper prioritizations and adaptations

•Ability to drive the work as you have the responsibility for making the Specification Application SW configuration.

Profile

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or any other equivalent field or work experience

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Railway Engineering is meritorious

•Relevant experience required in a similar role (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role).

•Safety and system related engineering experience.

•Experience of development according to safety standards such as CENELEC (EN50126, EN50128, EN50129) or equivalent.

•Computer knowledge for example installation of operating systems, drivers and network configuration.

•Relevant experience working with requirements, specifications and documentation of complex technical systems.

•Railway signalling knowledge.

Site: Stockholm (or alternatively Hässleholm)

Office minimum 3 days/week (working from home maximum 2 days/week
