Need help with CRM choice & set-up

I used to use Salesforce, but today, it seems far too complex...

Can you help me set-up a simple database sytem / CRM that simply allows me to add companies, add contacts, record all communication and allows me to set open activities....

I just spent 3 failed hours and I'm considering jumping off a bridge!
