We are seeking a strategic, commercially driven Managing Director to lead our regional business from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. As Altera’s senior representative in-country, you will oversee overall performance, development and market positioning, and represent the company to customers, authorities and key stakeholders. You will work closely with skilled personnel across all key disciplines, supported by the global Altera organization. As Managing Director, you will be fully accountable for regional results, safety, operational excellence and team development, and will be part of the Operational Leadership Team with strong collaboration across central functions. Some of the things you will be doing As Managing Director, you are fully accountable for business and operational outcomes in Côte d’Ivoire. Success in the role means: Safe, reliable and compliant operations Ensure safe operations where risks are understood, barriers maintained and integrity uncompromised. Secure full compliance with regulatory, contractual and internal requirements. Maintain strong oversight of asset performance and escalate decisively when needed **Strong commercial and financial performance ** Deliver predictable results against budget and key targets (production, uptime, cost, EBITDA, client satisfaction). Drive disciplined prioritisation, cost focus and transparent performance management. Support commercial discussions and ensure contract execution and scope management protect value. **Clear strategy, direction and prioritisation ** Translate corporate objectives into clear, actionable regional priorities. Position Altera strongly by understanding the local market and anticipating opportunities. Ensure plans, decisions and resources support long-term value creation. **Leadership of people, culture and organisational development ** Build, lead and coach a high-performing team with clear roles, expectations and accountability. Develop leaders, empower decisions and ensure growth and succession planning. Strengthen a culture of collaboration, improvement and learning across onshore and offshore teams. **Customer, authority and stakeholder management ** Represent Altera professionally with clients, regulators and partners. Ensure customers receive consistent, reliable and responsive service. Maintain strong presence in relevant forums, industry arenas and local networks. **Performance transparency and effective execution ** Use KPIs, data and reporting to drive clarity, learning and follow-up. Hold the Asset Manager and functions accountable for timely, effective delivery. Ensure “One Team” collaboration across functions and assets for coordinated, high-quality execution. Key qualifications and capabilities we are seeking University degree (preferably Master’s) in engineering, technical, business or management disciplines. Extensive senior leadership experience from the international energy sector, ideally with responsibility for operations, business performance or regional leadership. Strong understanding of offshore operations, regulations, local conditions and industry standards. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high-risk, high-complexity environments. Strong commercial acumen and experience with financial performance, contracts and client management. Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
