About Us: Advancements in information technology and artificial intelligence are reshaping the landscape of pathology, and we are at the forefront of this transformation. The strategic research project "Pathology services in the Western Norway Health Region

  • a centre for applied digitization", based in both Stavanger and Bergen, is driving the development of AI models to support pathology departments and pathologists in their diagnostic work, with a particular focus on cancer, chronic kidney disease, and workflow optimization. The research group has recently secured additional funding for a follow-up project titled "Advancing AI-enhanced pathology diagnostics of chronic kidney disease: Identifying, visualizing, and interpreting prognostic features." Position Overview: We are looking for a developer who is excited about building user interfaces that bridge the gap between advanced AI tools and the everyday workflow of pathologists. You will help us develop and implement laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) within our running digital pathology system. The candidate should be familiar with full-stack software development for the implementation and integration of the user interface within our existing IT infrastructure. For these tasks, you will have the support of Helse Vest IKT, which may provide supervision and guidance during the project. You’ll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team with both clinical and IT background consisting of developers, data scientists, and pathologists to understand practical needs and translate them into robust and clinically meaningful features within the digital pathology platform (Sectra). As part of the team, you'll also contribute to ensuring performance, usability, and stability in demanding real-world laboratory settings. We value a thoughtful approach to development and invite you to actively participate in shaping best practices for the design, testing, and deployment of clinical-grade software tools.
