System Architect

Description

Purpose of role: The System Architect is responsible for implementing technology strategies and ensuring that technological resources are aligned with the company’s business needs. This role will lead the migration of Prescient Fund Service Group (PFSG) infrastructure into AWS, modernizing components where applicable (e.g., refactoring into microservices hosted in Lambda). The Architect will drive automation and AI workflow implementation across the business, foster a culture of experimentation, and institutionalize AI capability throughout the organisation. Duties and responsibilities: Develop and maintain the systems architecture describing the complete set of components and interfaces within the PFSG application landscape. Lead migration of on-premises infrastructure (databases, application servers, etc.) into AWS native services such as RDS, Elasticache, Lambda, and containerized solutions (Fargate/ECS/EKS). Specify, select, and design cloud infrastructure components to implement the systems architecture. Coach and upskill development teams to adopt modern practices and tools. Identify emerging software technologies, methodologies, and ICT techniques, assessing their relevance and potential value to the organisation. Drive innovation and software best practices across the business. Implement and maintain stable, resilient CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable deployments with rollback/forward capabilities. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify bottlenecks and design scalable, efficient solutions. Champion modernisation of technologies and approaches with emphasis on stability and resilience. Act as a thought leader on emerging technologies by: Conducting research to improve technological assets. Identifying competitive advantages and technological trends. Modernizing business systems and delivery methods. Discovering and implementing new technologies that yield competitive advantage. Required experience: Minimum 8–10 years of experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or cloud infrastructure roles. Proven track record of cloud migration projects, particularly AWS. Experience in microservices architecture and serverless computing (Lambda). Hands-on experience with container orchestration (ECS, EKS, Fargate). Strong background in CI/CD pipeline design and automation. Demonstrated ability to coach and lead technical teams. Experience in embedding AI workflows and automation within business processes. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. AWS Certified Solutions Architect
