Senior HSE Officer

Description

The Senior HSE Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe workplace, regulatory compliance, and adherence to organizational standards across all operations. Job Details Support the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE policies, procedures, and management systems in line with industry best practices and regulatory standards. Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, inspections, and environmental impact assessments across operational sites. Monitor workplace activities to ensure compliance with safety rules and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Drive incident prevention initiatives and ensure proper investigation, reporting, and closure of all incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts. Monitor workplace conditions and ensure prompt corrective actions are taken to mitigate identified hazards. Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors to enhance safety awareness and compliance Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation, including regulatory submissions where required. Support environmental management activities, including waste disposal, emissions monitoring, and pollution control measures. Support emergency preparedness and response plans, including drills and simulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed a strong safety culture within the organization. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field. Minimum of 4–6 years’ relevant HSE experience, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments. Professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor) is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE regulations and international standards. Proven experience in implementing HSE management systems.
