ABOUT THE JOB: The Nutrition Officer will support the implementation, monitoring, and quality delivery of nutrition interventions at the field level, focusing on Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), supplementary feeding, and nutrition promotion activities. He/she will work closely with health facilities, community volunteers, and program teams to ensure timely screening, treatment, referral, and follow-up of malnourished children and pregnant/lactating women in communities, camps, and health facilities. The Nutrition Officer contributes to integration with health, WASH, child protection, and other sectors while supporting data collection, reporting, and community engagement. LOCATION: MONGONO, KAGA, MMC-JERE, MOBBAR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: The Nutrition Officer’s primary responsibilities include the following: Support the planning and day-to-day implementation of nutrition activities including screening, admission, treatment, and discharge of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) under CMAM/IMAM protocols; Conduct on-the-job training and mentoring of community health workers, volunteers, and facility staff on nutrition protocols, IYCF practices, growth monitoring, and hygiene promotion; Perform regular field monitoring visits to OTP/SC sites, distribution points, and communities to ensure adherence to protocols, quality service delivery, and proper use of nutrition supplies (RUTF, RUSF, etc.); Identify and refer complicated SAM cases to stabilization centers; support follow-up of defaulters, non-responders, and recoveries; Facilitate IYCF counseling sessions, support groups for mothers/caregivers, cooking demonstrations, and nutrition education in communities and safe spaces; Ensure gender, protection, and disability considerations are integrated into nutrition activities, with safe referral pathways for vulnerable cases; Collaborate with health, WASH, and other sector teams to promote integrated programming and avoid duplication; Collect, compile, and verify nutrition data (admissions, discharges, stock reports, MUAC screening results) using approved tools; support timely submission to the Nutrition Coordinator; Monitor stock levels of nutrition commodities and report any shortages or expiries to supervisor and logistics team; Participate in community sensitization, mobilization, and advocacy during project entry, screenings, and awareness campaigns; Support nutrition assessments, KAP surveys, and coverage surveys as required; Prepare weekly/monthly activity reports, case studies, and contribute to donor/narrative reports under guidance of the Nutrition Coordinator; Identify challenges, gaps, and lessons learned in field implementation and recommend solutions to improve program quality; Participate in Nutrition Sector/sub-sector meetings, stakeholder engagements, and coordination forums at field level when delegated; Ensure proper documentation, fi
