Responsibilities Performing preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective repairs on a wide range of clinical equipment to ensure functionality, as described by Indeed and this source. Testing, calibrating, and certifying that medical machinery meets safety and regulatory standards, such as electrical safety tests on patient-facing equipment Installing new equipment and troubleshooting malfunctions, often under time-sensitive emergency conditions Keeping accurate, detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Educating doctors, nurses and oter clinical professionalson the safe and proper operation of medical devices. Requirements An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related electronics field Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician(CBET) and a member of the relevant professional body ABETN is preferred Strong understanding of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, and physiology. Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex, faulty machinery. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varied hospital environments.
