Accounting Technician (Employees of the Mission Only)

Description

Duties Under the direction of the Financial Management Specialist, the incumbent will prepare the DS and ICASS DS budgets, assists in the maintenance of accounting records for post held allotments. Responsible for the verification and processing of all post held allotment accounting data into the Momentum Regional Financial Management System (RFMS). Also responsible for verifying and asg correct fiscal data to post held allotment vouchers prior to completion by the Financial Management Center(FMC) vouchering unit. Responsible for processing journal vouchers where needed and other work incident to the maintenance of all post held accounts. Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements: EXPERIENCE:  Three years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting, bookkeeping or accounting technician work is required. JOB KNOWLEDGE:  A good basic knowledge of budgets, standardized bookkeeping and accounting procedures, processes and format and use of accounting documents (such as obligations, invoices and disbursements) to maintain and reconcile records in the accounting systems. Education Requirements: Completion of two (2) years of college studies in Accounting or Business Management is required. Evaluations: LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge of the written and spoken language. Job holder should be able to read and understand, for example, regulations, instructions and related material concerning the field of work, and to prepare correspondence and standardized reports. Job holder should be able to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public in the language. (Language proficiency may be tested.) SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Computer skills to include experience with MS Office, Excel, Word and Outlook. Good mathematical and analytical skills to calculate and analyze financial data to detect and avoid errors. Must be able to administer effective accounting office procedures/processes such as correct filing, answering requests from customers, operating office equipment, clear and concise writing skills.
