Temporary Technical Support (up to 12-weeks; hourly rated)
Description
Job Responsibilities: Workshop Operations Support Makers’ Academy staff in the day-to-day to operation of the workshop facilities (blk 56 or blk 25), including but not limited to 3D printers, laser cutting machines, and tabletop fabrication machines. Assist in equipment setup, basic troubleshooting and monitoring of machine usage during operational hours. Safety & Compliance Ensure all workshop users adhere to safety guidelines and operating procedures. Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and the workshop environment. Report any safety incidents, hazards or equipment faults. Administration & housekeeping Maintain orderliness, cleanliness of the workshop. Assist with basic inventory checks and upkeep of tools, materials, and consumables. Support documentation and simple administrative tasks related to workshop operations when required. Prototyping & User Support Provide guidance to students on the correct use of tools, machines, and materials for prototyping activities. Advise students on suitable fabrication approaches based on their project requirements. Communicate effectively with students to understand their needs and guide them through the prototyping process. Pre-requisites: Hands‑on experience operating 3D printers, laser cutters, and/or other digital fabrication equipment. Working knowledge of prototyping processes within a maker space or workshop environment. Practical design or making skills, with an interest in hands‑on fabrication. Comfortable working in a workshop or maker space setting. Able to communicate clearly and patiently with students and stakeholders. Safety‑conscious, detail‑oriented, and able to follow established procedures. This is a temporary hourly rated position.
