About Our Client Our client is a well-established, publicly listed engineering firm with a strong track record in SCADA, telemetry, and control systems across Singapore’s critical infrastructure sectors including water utilities, transportation, and building facilities. This is an role in-lieu of expansion in their project delivery team. About The Role This role will be embedded within the client’s engineering division, working across the full PLC/HMI project lifecycle from design through to commissioning and client handover. The position offers direct exposure to large-scale, complex infrastructure programmes and strong potential for conversion to a permanent role upon project completion. Key Responsibilities Develop control philosophy, I/O lists, and cause-and-effect documentation. Produce and review panel GA, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and termination drawings using AutoCAD or EPLAN. Select and specify hardware: PLC/RTU, I/O modules, HMI, PSU, relays, signal isolators, surge protection, UPS, fans, and filters. Program PLCs (Ladder/FBD/Structured Text) and implement interlocks, control sequences, and alarm logic. Integrate field devices and drives including analog 4–20mA, DI/DO, pulse, VFDs, and soft starters. Implement and diagnose communication protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, and EtherNet/IP as required. Prepare FAT procedures; run I/O simulation, fail-safe tests, and produce documentation for client acceptance. Plan and execute SAT/loop checks, punch-list closure, and cutover/rollback plans in live plant environments. Troubleshoot instrumentation signals, network drops, and control sequences; optimise scan cycles and alarm management. Maintain as-built drawings, manuals, spare parts lists, and training materials; deliver clean project handover packs. Track schedule, materials, and costs; coordinate with procurement, vendors, and civil/MEP teams; report progress to the Project Manager. Minimum Requirements Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control & Instrumentation Engineering. 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in PLC/HMI and panel projects, with water/utilities or process automation exposure preferred. Proficiency in at least one major PLC/HMI platform: Schneider M580/SCADAPack + EcoStruxure/Control Expert, or Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 + PanelView/FactoryTalk. Ability to read P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics; confident with loop testing and panel QA. Working knowledge of Modbus/DNP3, analog signal calibration, and basic network configuration (VLAN/IP addressing).
