Senior Network Security Engineer Senior Network Security Engineer with a DevOps focus to support secure and resilient infrastructure within a public sector environment. Predominantly remote with occasional visits to London. Active SC clearance required, with out-of-hours support expected. You will play a key role in securing, maintaining, and optimising network infrastructure, with a strong focus on Firewall technologies, network security, and high availability across critical systems. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure within a DevOps environment Manage and optimise Fortinet and Cisco Firewall solutions (policies, configurations, upgrades) Monitor network traffic, analyse logs, and troubleshoot security and connectivity issues Support incident response, providing expertise on Firewall and network-related events Ensure secure application communication across HTTP and WebSocket flows Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to support deployments and infrastructure changes Contribute to continuous improvement of security, networking, and DevOps practices Document configurations, processes, and best practices in line with governance standards Provide out-of-hours support and escalation when required Key Skills & Experience Strong experience in DevOps or network security engineering Hands-on expertise with Fortinet and Cisco Firewall technologies Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, OSI model) Experience with network protocols, security principles, and threat mitigation Knowledge of HTTP and WebSocket communication flows Experience analysing logs, troubleshooting issues, and supporting production environments Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure environments is beneficial
