Shopify Lead Engineer Up to £400 per day | Outside IR35 Fully Remote | UK A scaling consumer E-commerce business is seeking a Shopify Lead Engineer to own the Shopify architecture on a complex, multi-brand replatforming programme. Two established consumer brands are migrating from Magento to Shopify Plus within a hybrid headless architecture. You will be the domain expert: deg the multi-brand, multi-market setup, guiding checkout extensibility decisions. This is hands-on, delivery-critical work with real architectural ownership from day one. Key Responsibilities as a Shopify Lead Engineer: Design and validate the multi-brand, multi-market Shopify Plus architecture Define the hybrid headless approach with Contentful, including rendering strategy and caching Guide checkout extensibility decisions covering Shopify Functions, split orders and fulfilment logic Act as the primary Shopify SME with external agencies and vendors Support handover documentation so internal teams can operate the platform independently Skills & Key Requirements: Proven Shopify Lead or Tech Lead experience on Shopify Plus, including at least one sizable replatform Deep knowledge of Liquid, Shopify APIs, Shopify Functions, checkout extensibility and Markets Experience with headless or hybrid architectures integrating a CMS such as Contentful OMS integration experience, ideally including complex split-order and fulfilment routing scenarios Strong stakeholder communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences Contract Details: Day Rate: Up to £400 per day IR35: Outside IR35 Contract Length: 2 weeks, with view to 3-month extension Location: Once a month onsite London Start Date: This week If you are a Shopify Lead Engineer with strong replatforming credentials and want real architectural ownership on a high-profile programme, or get in touch directly.
