SAS Technical Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior SAS Engineer to support a major SAS migration initiative from Cloudera to AWS. This role focuses on hands-on analysis, remediation, and testing of SAS code to ensure seamless compatibility with AWS-based data sources. Working closely with technical leads, architects, and business users, the Senior SAS Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring functional accuracy, performance stability, and successful business sign-off throughout the migration life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead SAS migration activities from Cloudera (HDFS/Hive) to AWS.
• Oversee reconfiguration of SAS Servers, metadata, libraries, and connectivity points.
• Analyse and redesign SAS jobs referencing HDFS/Hive to AWS-based equivalents.
• Manage prioritisation, planning, and progress tracking for 1,000+ SAS jobs.
• Collaborate with business SMEs to coordinate testing and formal sign-offs.
• Validate SQL compatibility and ensure output consistency between Cloudera and AWS.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure timely issue resolution.
• Engage with senior stakeholders and provide regular migration status reporting.
• Mentor and guide onshore and offshore SAS engineers.

Mandatory Skills

• Expert-level SAS and SQL.
• Strong stakeholder management and project leadership skills.
• Proven experience delivering SAS platform migrations (Cloudera - AWS preferred).

Secondary Skills

• AWS exposure.
• Strong understanding of the Cloudera ecosystem (Hive, HDFS).
