The Mine Captain provides legally compliant, frontline operational leadership for underground mining crews. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and productive execution of underground development and stopping activities in accordance with JCHX standards, client requirements, and Botswana's statutory mining and explosives regulations. The Mine Captain is responsible for shift control, legal inspections, statutory documentation, safety leadership, discipline, and the coordination of people, equipment, and resources.

The Mine Captain is a statutory appointment made in terms of Regulation 16 of the Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Regulations under the MQWM Act of Botswana. Requirements Recognised Blasting Certificate and eligibility for statutory appointment as Mine Captain/Overman under MQWM Regulations. 5-10 years senior experience in a mechanised, high-speed underground development mine. Knowledge of Underground best mining practices and the efficient operation of an underground high-speed development, mechanized mines. Proven experience with underground mechanised mining equipment and modern production methods Ability to manage multiple teams and large fleets of underground mining equipment.
