KU - SUND - IVS We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Postdoc for a 3-year position. The Postdoc will be involved in research projects within pig nutrition and physiology, with a special focus on nutritional strategies to reduce tail biting in weaned pigs. Our research Our research group works within different areas of pig nutrition, feeding and physiology, including piglet mortality, weaning transition, gut health, functional amino acids, feed efficiency and sow feeding. The group consists of associate professors, an assistant professor, a research assistant, and a PhD student. Your job The Postdoc will be involved in experimental trials, laboratory work, data analyses, and literature reviews. The work will include study design, selection of methods, sample and data collection, data analyses and research publication and dissemination. The position might involve teaching within pig nutrition and physiology and doing other tasks that fall within the scope of Pig Nutrition and Feeding research group´s tasks. The project is a collaboration between many partners including Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University (AU) who is project lead. Thus, the job will require spending time at AU Viborg, Blichers Allé 20, 8830 Tjele, to conduct a ~1-year in vivo trial with frequent visits of 4 to 8 weeks. At AU Viborg the Postdoc will be working close with assistant professor Marleen Elise van der Heide (project manager) and Professor Jan Værum Nørgaard, head of the Monogastric Nutrition. Profile We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience: Essential experience and skills • You are experienced in conducting nutritional studies with pigs • You are experienced in conducting statistical data analyses • You have an active interest in protein and amino acid nutrition • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams • You have a driver’s license Desirable experience and skills • Experience with laboratory work such as RNA extraction and purification, western blot and imaging • Experience with handling and analyzing various omics data Place of employment The place of employment is at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
