- 81,670 RWF per day BACKGROUND The Peace Corps is an independent U.S. Government agency that sends American volunteers around the world to aid countries to fulfill their development needs. The Peace Corps has programs in 65 countries with approximately 7,000 American volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. The three goals of the Peace Corps are: To help the people of interested countries in meeting their needs for trained men and women; To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of peoples served; To help promote a better understanding of other people on the part of Americans. Peace Corps originally opened its program in Rwanda in 1974, working for 20 years before closing its offices in 1994. It reopened its program in 2008 and Peace Corps Volunteers currently work in Health and TEFL Education, responding directly to the Government of Rwanda’s priorities. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is a team player and self-starter with moral integrity and a spirit of continuous improvement to fill this vacancy. BASIC FUNCTION Working as a member of Peace Corps Rwanda’s Training Unit, and under the direct supervision of the Training Manager (TM), the Homestay, Language and Culture Coordinator (HLCC) plays a critical role in ensuring Peace Corps Trainees have a safe, supportive, and culturally enriching environment during Pre-Service Training. The position oversees the full homestay placement process—planning, identifying, and evaluating host families—to guarantee trainees’ well-being and cultural immersion. In addition, the HLCC provides essential leadership and coordination for Language and Cultural Facilitators (LCFs). The HLCC guides LCFs through daily task XXXX XXXX ensure trainees receive high-quality language and intercultural training. This dual responsibility ensures both the homestay program and language instruction operate smoothly and effectively throughout PST. Note: This is an intermittent position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES HOMESTAY COORDINATION Prior to Trainee arrival, identifies Host Families for Trainee accommodation in collaboration with the Training Manager (TM), Assistant Training Manager/Logistics (ATML) and Safety and Security Manager (SSM). Coordinates with the local and community leaders and prepares the host families for their roles. Supervises and finalizes the election of home stay families and other home stay arrangements. Manage relations between the trainees/training staff and the homestay families and other community members. Promptly resolves conflicts that may arise between Trainees and their families or community members.
