The Role
We’re looking for a Data Engineer to play a key role in building and evolving Monta’s data platform. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on deg, building, and maintaining reliable, scalable data pipelines and models that power analytics, decision-making, and customer-facing products.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Data & AI, product engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to turn raw operational data into trusted, well-modeled datasets. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, technical depth, and impact without people management responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines from a wide range of operational systems
- Develop high-quality data models in the warehouse that enable analytics, experimentation, and AI use cases
- Own parts of the data platform end-to-end, from ingestion through transformation and orchestration
- Ensure data reliability, quality, and performance as data volumes and use cases grow
- Partner closely with analytics, product, and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that create business value
- Contribute to architectural decisions as we evolve toward large-scale, streaming, and near real-time data systems
- Apply best practices around testing, observability, documentation, and data governance
- Support and enable downstream users by making data discoverable, understandable, and trustworthy

We are evolving toward large-scale data systems, modern streaming capabilities, and advanced AI/ML pipelines that support both internal teams and customer-facing products.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience as a data engineer, ideally in a high-growth or product-focused environment
- Deep hands-on expertise with modern data warehouses and transformation tools (Snowflake, dbt, or similar)
- Solid understanding of data modeling, pipeline design, and performance optimization
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure and data services, preferably on AWS
- Comfort working with both batch and streaming data patterns
- A pragmatic mindset: you balance technical quality with delivering real business impact
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially when working with non-data stakeholders
- A sense of ownership and accountability for the systems you build

- AI-enhanced testing & monitoring (e.g., generative QA, Grafana ML)
