The opportunity 🤩

Candeno is a leading player in the Danish unemployment sector and is currently expanding across Sweden and Norway. As we grow, we see AI as an essential enabler, helping us improve user experiences, automate processes, and make better, faster decisions across our platform.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong full-stack experience and a genuine interest in AI. In this role, you’ll help design, build, and maintain scalable solutions while exploring how to apply AI technologies responsibly and effectively within our SaaS platform.

You will 💡

As a Senior Software Engineer (AI) at Candeno, you’ll become part of a collaborative development team working closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers. Reporting to our CTO or Tech Lead, you’ll contribute across the platform while gradually taking ownership of AI-related initiatives and experimentation.

You will also:

Software Engineering:

• Build and maintain scalable, high-quality applications for the Candeno SaaS platform.
• Write readable, well-structured, and maintainable code aligned with modern best practices.
• Develop new functionality and improve existing features based on user needs and product direction.
• Test, debug, and ensure reliability across services and components.

AI & Innovation:

• Explore and implement AI-driven features where they add real value.
• Work with technologies such as LLMs, prompt engineering, or model integrations in production contexts.
• Help define how AI should be used across the platform—balancing experimentation with stability.
• Become (or grow into) the internal point of reference for AI-related topics.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:

• Work closely with product, design, and engineering to deliver thoughtful, user-centred solutions.
• Take part in design discussions and code reviews, offering constructive input.
• Communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Performance, Security & Stability:

• Ensure applications are performant, scalable, and reliable.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Contribute to secure development practices and compliance with relevant standards.

Mentorship & Leadership:

• Support junior engineers through guidance, feedback, and sparring.
• Set a strong technical example through your approach to quality and collaboration.

You’re a solid engineer who enjoys learning and evolving with new technology. You’re curious about AI—not just as a buzzword, but as a tool that can meaningfully improve products. You take ownership, communicate clearly, and enjoy working in cross-functional teams. Ideally, you bring:

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, preferably in SaaS environments.
• Experience with PHP, Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and container technologies like Docker (Kubernetes is a plus).
• An interest in generative AI, including LLMs, prompt design, or AI integrations in real systems.
• Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to problem-solving.
• Transparent and collaborative communication skills in English (Danish or Swedish is a bonus).
• The ability to work onsite at our Aarhus Office.

• Start contributing through smaller development tasks and bug fixes.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and build strong working relationships.

Within three months:

• Take the lead on selected features or technical improvements.
• Contribute actively to code quality, performance, and architectural discussions.
• Begin shaping how AI is explored and applied within the product.

Within six months:

• Influence technical and architectural decisions across the platform.
• Act as a trusted sparring partner on AI-related initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to long-term technical direction.
