Manager AO Academic Platforms (ID 1953)

Main Responsibilities

Lead and manage the organization of AO own congresses, driving the development of events innovation, ensuring congress and events are up to standard and compliant

Overall responsibility for congress & events planning from A-Z (logistics, promotion, sponsorship, abstract management, etc)

Establish and processes performance, evaluation and statistics about congress participants meet AOs standard

Supervising and working closely with AO leadership and professional congress organisations (PCO) from the start of the planning process until the end of the successful execution of the congress and events

Lead and manage the development and publishing of AO own Journals, including securing conditions for a stable journal logistic and administrative support, promotion, working closely with Publishing Editors and involved internal and external stakeholders

Work in collaboration with Partners and Suppliers, monitoring costs, budget and contract negotiations

Manage a team

Accountable for

Management of AO own congresses organization (GSC, FA)

Management of AO own journals (GSJ, CMTR, Surgical Insights)

Interfaces Key

Directors of Clinical Divisions (Spine, CMF, Recon)

AO Marketing, AO Finance, AO IT

Suppliers (e.g. PCO)

Surgeons (Managing Editor, Editors-in-Chief, program steering committees, international boards)

Main Requirements

Educational requirements

BSc or MSc in relevant field (Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent)

Job experience

Proven record of professional experience in medical associations or med-tech environment (minimum 5 years)

Proven experience in managing large congresses and journals

Proven experience in managing complex large projects

Proven experience in people management or relevant leadership experience

Key skills

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage, motivate and inspire a diverse team

Good financial acumen, incl. forecasting, budget setting and financial analysis

Passionate about continuous improvement, entrepreneurial and creative mindset to further enhance GN Academic Platforms

Strong project management and strategy implementation expertise

Reliable, proactive and problem-solving attitude with excellent organizational skills, an ability to work independently, whilst maintaining contact and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels

Language skills

Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of additional languages would be an asset
