Develop and implement encounter models for unconventional airspace users using expert knowledge, MIT open-source models, or data-driven approaches

Collect and analyze encounter data from sources like the Open Glider Network across Switzerland

Build comprehensive datasets and leverage RUAG software to model encounters

Enhance simulation environments and support small drone certification under the SORA framework

Collaborate with a diverse team and engage with startups to understand real-world airborne system certification

Shape your own project, make meaningful decisions, and contribute to innovative aviation safety solutions.

What you should bring with you

Proficiency in ; experience with MATLAB is a strong advantage

Solid understanding of mathematically abstracted models and their application in engineering

Basic knowledge of Git or similar version control systems, Familiarity with aviation is a plus

Creative and solution-oriented mindset with a passion for innovation

High technical aptitude and strong willingness to learn, especially in modelling and simulation, system theory and algorithms, control engineering, and system architecture

Ability to collaborate effectively with the project team

Excellent analytical and planning skills, combined with a high level of responsibility and perseverance

Good command of English; knowledge of German is an asset

About the field of activity

In this internship, you will contribute to extending our simulation framework to support unconventional encounters, such as paragliders, small drones, hovering helicopters, and other non-traditional airspace participants.
