Tax Auditor
Description
Responsibilities: Review and audit tax returns, financial statements, and accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance with Nigerian tax laws. Assess compliance with Companies Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and other applicable taxes. Identify tax risks, underpayments, overpayments, and potential areas of non-compliance. Prepare audit reports, tax assessment reports, and reconciliation schedules. Liaise with tax authorities such as FIRS and State Internal Revenue Services during tax audits and reviews. Provide recommendations on tax compliance improvements and internal control enhancements. Monitor changes in Nigerian tax laws and ensure organisational compliance. Support tax dispute resolution, objections, and appeals processes where necessary. Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all tax reviews conducted. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or CITN is an added advantage. Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in tax auditing, taxation, or financial auditing. Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and compliance procedures.
