ABOUT THE COMPANY GIZ, the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, provides services in the field of international technical cooperation worldwide. In Kenya, it has been active since 1964, and up to now implements programs in a wide variety of areas, including economic development, green energy and water, governance, food security, and peace and security. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is GIZ’s main commissioning party. However, GIZ as well works closely with the private sector, fostering successful interaction between development policy and foreign trade. JOB SUMMARY The “Project „Climate-resilient Agriculture and Pastoralism in Northern Kenya” is a new project starting its operation in March 2026.The project supports rural communities as well as local public, private and civil society stakeholders in their efforts to increase the resilience of the rural population regarding climate and socio-economic challenges. Sustainable and productive management of natural resources and climate resilient income generation from livestock, agriculture and fisheries are main intervention areas. While for Turkana and Marsabit there will be a o the focus will be on the better management of the Lake Baringo catchment area. The project will be implemented in the counties of Turkana, Marsabit and Baringo.To make the project a success GIZ is looking for a highly motivated team to support the various interventions.The technical Adviser ist responsible for the operational management of the following project measures and activities, in particular focusing on Output 3 of the overall project: “The institutional framework for gender-sensitive climate resilience enhancement has been improved ” and specific Output 6 for Baringo: “Improved institutional frame conditions for sustainable watershed management in Baringo” RESPONSIBILITIES ResponsibilitiesIn particular the position holder will work with county officials and target group representatives as well as other key decision makers in Baringo to create an enabling policy environment in the areas outlined herein: Support the CLAP AV to set up project structures, establish networks and trustworthy working relations with partners from local government, civil society, private sector and other development partners present in Baringo County.Contribute to the conceptionalization of the CLAP project.Oversee planning and implementation of the project activities under the assigned project outputs, with a view to create synergies within the project in and beyond Baringo.Initiate, and guide inclusive policy processes with local governments, target group representatives, private sector and other relevant stakeholders in the development space.Initiate and facilitate capacity building measures with a focus on local government players but also local partners (e.g. workshops and/or trainings, capacity building measures for government stakeholders, local partners or multipliers
