As a Technical Services Supervisor for laboratory instrumentation, you will lead a team of technicians responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of scientific equipment. Your leadership ensures the reliability, compliance, and optimal performance of instruments supporting multiple laboratory environments. You will oversee day-to-day operations, guide your team through technical projects, and uphold high service standards in a dynamic, regulated setting.What You'll Do Supervise and coordinate technical service projects for laboratory equipment from initiation through completion. Develop service plans, workflows, and integrated timelines for maintenance, calibration, and equipment upgrades. Ensure technicians meet deadlines and manage escalated issues related to instrument performance and reliability. Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, including supplier identification, price negotiation, and contract approval for specialised services or parts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support complex instrumentation challenges and provide technical guidance throughout project execution. Prepare, maintain, and distribute routine performance reports, presenting key service metrics to stakeholders. Apply strong knowledge of laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration standards, and troubleshooting methods to inform technical decision-making. Mentor and support technicians, fostering knowledge-sharing, continuous improvement, and cross-disciplinary expertise. Promote collaboration, effective communication, and a positive team culture while driving operational excellence. Contribute to laboratory operations and service activities impacting scientific teams, research functions, and technical units. Work within established guidelines, policies, and regulations applicable to laboratory environments. Clearly communicate complex or sensitive technical information to scientists, team members, vendors, and management. What You'll Need A high school diploma or a technical/scientific bachelor's degree, plus 4-5 years of relevant experience in laboratory equipment services. Equivalent education-experience combinations may also be considered. Prior experience in a supervisory, shift?lead, or team?lead role within technical services, maintenance, or laboratory operations (strongly preferred). Ability to meet physical requirements typical of laboratory environments, including standing, walking, stooping, climbing, and lifting equipment. Strong judgment and decision-making skills based on evaluation of technical data and instrumentation performance. Willingness to challenge existing processes and propose improved approaches to equipment service delivery. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and data management. Strong organisational abilities and an inquisitive mindset essential for managing diverse equipment portfolios and technical project workflows. This position is fully on-site in Beerse.
