Advanced Digital, Complex Membership & Expert Directory Platform for SBA

We are the Sudanese British Association (SBA), and we are seeking a top-tier, highly experienced Senior Developer or a small, elite agency to architect and build Phase 1 of our new digital platform.

The SBA platform is a multi-layer digital ecosystem designed to serve as a national-level diaspora hub and a global knowledge network. It requires complex relational data architecture, strict role-based access control, and robust search capabilities. We have a comprehensive, developer-ready specification document (Database Schema, User Flows, UI/UX Structure) ready to share with the successful candidate.

If you only build basic templates, this project is not for you. We need an architect who understands complex data relationships and scalable systems.

The Platform Core Requirements:

The platform must deliver five interconnected systems, along with a dedicated structure for our specialized sub-associations:

1. Advanced Membership System & Sub-Associations A secure portal supporting multiple user tiers (Guest, Member, Expert, Institutional Partner). Crucially, the platform must host and manage access for six distinct sub-associations, allowing users to join and interact with specific sub-groups:

• Sudanese-British Business Forum • Sudanese-British Culture, Heritage, Arts and Sports Association • Sudanese British Media and Journalists Association • Sudanese-British Association for Health, Environment and Climate Change • Sudanese British Association for Universities and Research and High Education

Users must be able to select these sub-associations to tailor their personalized dashboards, content feeds, and department-based access control.

1. Global Sudanese Knowledge Network (GSKN) A complex, searchable directory of vetted experts. This requires a faceted search engine capable of filtering by a hierarchical taxonomy (Sector → Specialty → Skill), global location, availability status, and affiliation with any of the six sub-associations.

2. Opportunities Engine A dynamic job, scholarship, and training board. It must include a matching logic system that links opportunities to relevant user profiles based on shared tags (skills, sub-associations), triggering automated notifications for high-match scores.

3. Events Management A full event calendar system supporting virtual, physical, and hybrid events. It must include registration capabilities, ticketing integration, and filtering by the hosting sub-association.

4. Strict Multilingual Support Flawless integration of English and Arabic. The UI framework must natively support Right-to-Left (RTL) rendering for Arabic, ensuring layouts, typography, and interactive elements flip appropriately.

Timeline & Technical Expectations:

Phase 1 Delivery: We require a fully functional Phase 1 build of project commencement.

Tech Stack: Given the aggressive timeline, we expect this to be built on a highly optimized, headless-ready CMS architecture. We recommend heavily customized WordPress utilizing Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) Pro, Custom Post Types, and premium membership/directory plugins. Alternatively, if you can guarantee the timeline, a rapid-development framework like Laravel is acceptable.

Quality Standards: The output must be scalable, secure, and performant. We expect clean code, proper caching implementation (Redis/Memcached), and a structure that allows for future migration to a fully decoupled React/Next.js frontend (Phase 2). Strict compliance and robust security protocols (TLS 1.3, password hashing) are mandatory.

Required Experience:

To be considered for this project, you must demonstrate:

• A proven track record building complex membership portals, SaaS platforms, or advanced directory websites. • Deep expertise in database architecture and relational data mapping (specifically handling parent/child organizational structures like our sub-associations). • Experience implementing advanced search filtering and matching logic algorithms. • A strong understanding of web security, compliance, and performance optimization (caching, CDN integration). • MANDATORY: Previous experience implementing bilingual (English/Arabic RTL) platforms.
