Batch Image Resizing & Padding

I have two folders of photos—398 files in one and 93 in the other—that all need to sit on a 1200 × 900 px canvas while keeping their original resolution quality, file names, and file formats intact.

Here is the exact brief:

• Every landscape shot should simply be centred on the new canvas. • For portrait-oriented shots I do NOT want a solid background-colour. Instead, please use the existing background and extend its pattern or texture so the final image looks natural and seamless. • No compression artefacts or colour shifts; the images must come back in the same format (JPEGs stay JPEG, PNGs stay PNG, etc.) and carry exactly the same file names.

You may use Photoshop actions, ImageMagick, or any other batch-friendly tool as long as the visual result is clean and consistent across all 491 images. When you deliver, I will spot-check a sample set for canvas size, natural background extension, and unchanged file metadata before approving the whole batch.
