Chief Technology Officer - AKVA Digital
AKVA Digital is continuing the journey to become a truly world-class digital business and is now seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This is a high-impact executive role for a leader who can combine technical mastery with business leadership, transforming AKVA Digital into a best-practice SaaS organization serving aquaculture clients globally.
As CTO - AKVA Digital you will own the technology strategy, lead the entire software development and SaaS platform, and ensure AKVA Digital operates as a high-performing, financially scalable software company-with AI as a central enabler for precision farming, automation, and real-time decision-making. You will work closely with all product areas to ensure we deliver value to our customers and scale the business in line with the best SaaS companies globally. Our four main product areas are:
AKVA fishtalk:Digital production control and planning system with full traceability from broodstock to harvest.
AKVA connect:Automation and control platform integrating feeding systems and hardware for centralized farm operations.
AKVA submerged: Automated biomass and health monitoring using underwater cameras and AI.
AKVA observe:AI-powered precision farming and management to optimize feed conversion ratio (FCR).
Key responsibilities:
Executive Leadership:Act as a key member of the Digital management team and represent AKVA Digital externally when required.
Technology Strategy:Own the execution and implementation of technical roadmap and align initiatives with business objectives and financial targets.
Software Development Leadership:Lead engineering teams, coding standards, and delivery processes for efficiency and quality.
SaaS Operations:Oversee DevOps, cloud operations, and service reliability.
Financial Performance:Drive cost discipline and resource optimization to achieve EBIT and EBITDA targets.
Architecture & Governance:Establish standards for scalability, security, and compliance.
Innovation & Partnerships:Embed AI across products and processes; build strategic technology partnerships.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in technical / commercial field, or equivalent relevant education
Proven track record as CTO or senior technology leader in SaaS or industrial tech
Expertise in cloud-native architecture, microservices, and SaaS operations
Strong business acumen and ability to link technology to commercial outcomes
Experience with AI technologies and organizational transformation
Strong leadership skills with a motivational and hands-on approach
Strong communication skills (Norwegian & English fluency required)
