BMS Automation Engineer
Position Summary
The BMS Automation Engineer will play a key role in the configuration, operation, maintenance, and administration of automation systems supporting manufacturing, process, and facility controls. While covering all site manufacturing systems, the primary focus will be on supporting BMS/HVAC systems. The successful candidate will join the site Automation team and contribute to the reliable and compliant performance of critical automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
Configure, implement, and support automation systems independently or in collaboration with third-party system integrators.
Manage and coordinate third-party vendors/integrators for both project and sustaining activities.
Provide guidance and technical expertise to the in-house Automation team on system design, implementation, and support.
Develop, review, and approve design documentation, project standards, and SOPs to ensure compliant operation.
Ensure all automation systems are delivered, maintained, and operated in a qualified and compliant state in line with GxP and cGMP requirements.
Support validation activities and contribute to deviation investigations and change control processes.
Participate in cross-functional teams to optimize equipment and automation performance.
Assist in training personnel on automation-related systems and processes.
Lead or support in-house automation projects, delivering solutions in line with site priorities and timelines.
Take on delegate responsibilities from the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Systems when required.
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years’ experience within the automation industry, supporting GxP environments and applications.
5+ years’ experience supporting BMS/HVAC systems in a manufacturing facility.
Strong knowledge of Siemens Desigo; experience with Siemens PLCs, SCADA/HMI, and Neuberger ProGrafNT is highly desirable.
Proven track record in managing and working with system integrators and vendors.
Hands-on experience in supporting manufacturing facility automation systems.
Skilled in maintaining controls networks and communications (Profibus, Ethernet, Modbus).
Experience with OSI PI data historian, SQL Server, and virtualization platforms is an advantage.
Strong understanding of cGMP requirements and application of GAMP best practices for compliant automation systems.
Experience implementing change controls, validation protocols, and deviation management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
