Description

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) acts as the primary link between Human Resources and the technical production units (Melting, Rolling Mill, and Oxygen Plant). The role is responsible for ensuring that the plant is staffed with skilled technical talent, maintaining a stable industrial relations climate, and driving performance through clear communication and local labor law compliance. Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Execute end-to-end recruitment for technical plant roles (operators, technicians, maintenance etc) by sourcing from both local and national talent pools. Collaborate with Plant Managers to maintain optimal staffing levels for 24/7 shift rotations in the melting and rolling mills. Execute specialized onboarding that integrates corporate culture with mandatory Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols specific to heavy metal manufacturing. 2. Talent & Skills Development Identify skill gaps in production lines and coordinate On-the-Job Training (OJT). Identify high-potential technicians and supervisors to build a pipeline for critical "shift lead" positions.  Ensure all specialized equipment operators (e.g., crane operators, high-voltage technicians) maintain valid, up-to-date certifications and safety training.   3. Performance Management Assist floor managers in setting performance targets linked to production yield, waste reduction (scrap efficiency), and machine uptime.  Provide mid-level managers with the tools to deliver constructive feedback and manage underperformance effectively. Support the implementation of production-based incentive schemes to drive efficiency in the rolling mills. Facilitate periodic employee performance management cycles and ensure timely execution 4. Employee Relations & Labor Compliance Serve as the first point of contact for grievances, using multilingual skills to mediate disputes and prevent work stoppages. Ensure all site actions (overtime, discipline, and leave) comply with the Ethiopian Labor Proclamation and internal plant rules. Foster a culture of safety and accountability by maintaining a strong, visible presence on the factory floor. Working with the Safety Officer to ensure that disciplinary actions for safety violations are handled firmly yet fairly.
