Job Title : Accountant  Work Unit:  Office of Zonal Coordinate Office Term of Employment : Permanent Reports to : Head, Administration and Finance Employment Type : Full Time Number Of Required : 1 Salary :16,814.00   II.        Job Summary  Under the supervision of the Admin and Finance Manager, the Sr. Accountant follows up budget requisition, consolidation, endorsement and  implementation matters of the branch are in accordance with pre-established regulatory framework; Verifies payment orders and purchasing transactions are duly approved as per delegated authority; verifies and follows up on the timely collection of revenues and settlement of disbursements; verifies journal entries and checks payment requests against support documents for the preparation of checks or other mode of payment; analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and expenses incurred to project future operation results, prepare interim and end of year financial reports; III.      Specific Duties and Responsibilities  1.         Participates in planning and formulating internal control policies and procedures for administration and finance matters of the zonal branch; 2.         Reviews, verifies, checks and finalizes activity outputs of subordinate staff;  3.         ensures that books of accounts are kept to the best satisfaction of the IPSAS and internal as well as external regulatory requirements;  4.         Inspects & tests books of accounts for clerical and arithmetic accuracy and performs other advanced general accounting tasks or posting;  5.         Follows up budget requisition, consolidation, endorsement and implementation matters of the zone are in accordance with pre-established regulatory framework;  6.         Expedites and facilitates the preparation of annual budget for income and expenditure and annual forecast of cash inflow for the zonal branch;  7.         Prepare monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual financial report (Balance sheet and Statement of Income and Expenditure) and analyses the report and provide accurate information for management decision making;  8.         Verifies references and cross-references of postings and source documents;  9.         verifies that bank statements are reconciled with the records of the branch;    10.       Verifies that expenditures are justified, properly made and signed and charged to correct accounts;  11.       Checks the agreement of the balances of subsidiary ledgers and that of control accounts in the general ledger and tests the equality of debit and credit totals (trial balance) of the general ledger account balances;  12.       Checks the correctness of petty cash payment vouchers and account coding;  13.       Prepares, checks and verifies the accuracy of payroll;  14.       Prepare schedule of payables and receivables at the end of every month and provide the report to Finance and Admin Manager; 15.       Maintains and updates purchase register books by inserting all the necessary data;  16.       Examines and checks all registers for correctness and the register totals for general ledger posting;  17.       Prepares periodic and end-of-period financial reports and statements resulting from subsidiary and general ledger accounts;  18.       Ensures that the financial books of the branch are always kept up-to-date, timely closed and audited;  19.       Executes audit review feedbacks given on the books of accounts and accounting practices of the zonal branch;  20.       Performs other related duties and responsibilities of the job as assigned by the admin and Finance head.     We invite candidates meeting the required qualification to fill out online employment application form with the indicated link  https://ee,ifrc.org/x/yKeJce3f before the closing date of this announcement on  25 March 2026
