Founded on compassion and excellence, HFE strives to restore health and dignity to women across Ethiopia through treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation programs. One of our key initiatives, Project Zero, aims to achieve fistula eradication woreda by woreda, ensuring that no woman suffers needlessly from this preventable condition. We already launched this program in some parts of the country.  We also want to ensure this project in Central Ethiopia, Western Gurage Zone, Gedebano Gutazer Wolene Woreda. For the successful implementation of the program, HFE needs to employ an experienced candidate as per the given job title and responsibilities. Mandatory:   Local Wolane language speaking is mandatory  Fluency in English, Amharic, and other local languages including Siltʼe language is advantageous.    Vacancy Information Job Title or Position     Team Leader of Project Zero   Reports to     The Project Zero Coordinator Mode of Employment     Contract for one year Salary     As per the scale of the organization Number of Candidates     One Gender     Male or Female Announcement Date     March 19,2026 Deadline for Application     7 working days from the date of announcement Job Summary: The team leader will coordinate the overall project- Zero, Fistula eradication program in collaboration with Project Zero coordinator PZ and prevention manger and nearby Hamlin Fistula center. In addition, he/she will also be involved in technical support for the team as deemed. This position also requires quality improvement approaches as well as current trends in service delivery, training and capacity building approaches that are based on scientific evidence. Major Duties and Responsibilities of The team leader includes the following, but are not limited to: Serve as the main technical interface between HFE-project zero local stakeholders as it applies to Maternal and Child Health. Liaise with technical steering groups, Project Coordinator and Prevention and project zero manager and Woreda technical working groups for project –Zero Fistula free Program. Oversee and work with the team and motivate them to conduct their activities efficiently through planning and providing daily activities for the team. Prepare analyses, recommendations, briefing notes, and assessments of the project in relation to delivery. Anticipate and provide timely solutions for the identified challenges during the project. Address inefficient performances and provide timely feedback, as a team or individually, to improve the gaps. Work in collaboration with the Health Centers where Hamlin Midwives are deployed to support aspects of the strategic direction and leadership of the maternal and child health programming guiding linkages and integration within the overall health sector. Coordinate meetings with Project Zero b Coordinator to provide regular updates on progress of achievements against set targets, program challenges and successes, as well as ways forward for on-going implementation. Be involved in analysis of data collected during project implementation to obtain evidence based trends and follow program progress against set targets; Lead and support the team to utilize data for informed decision making on program direction. Provide any technical support to Midwife mentors, woredas health offices and other stakeholders in the prevention of obstetric fistula, identification and referral of fistula patients and facilitate their treatment. Leads the planning and implementation of the project in line with the organization’s mission, policies, strategies and available resources. Submit timely report of the project, patient identification and progress of the project strategy, to concerned body when necessary. Explores best mechanisms and make ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the project. Actively participate in Fistula Patient Identification Process, in collaboration with patient identification officer and other stakeholders in awareness creation, strengthen the existing referral system, and facilitate their treatment. Perform other related duties as assigned by the project Zero Coordinator or PZ and prevention manager. Key competencies and professional expertise required: Excellent skill of computer software packages; previous experience with District Health Information System (DHIS) database packages preferred. Strong interpersonal, intercultural communication skills, able to work well both within a team and independently under stressful conditions. Proven clinical experience, working in the delivery of maternal, and child health service. Proven experience in developing and implementing service delivery protocols, norms and standards.
