Head of engineering Department

About the job  We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Engineering Department to lead our technical team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and utility operations within our facility which located at Butajira. You will ensure minimal downtime, strict adherence to safety standards, and efficient management of infrastructure to support uninterrupted production. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Systems Oversee all electrical installations, maintenance, and repair of power distribution panels, transformers, generators, ATS systems, lighting, wiring, and machinery. Ensure uninterrupted power supply for all production lines. Implement energy-saving measures and monitor consumption patterns. Plumbing & Sewerage Oversee factory water supply systems, drainage, wastewater systems, and sanitary installations. Maintain water supply for drinking, washing, finishing, and flashing processes. Ensure drainage and sewerage systems meet environmental and compliance standards. Manage compressed air, boiler, fire hydrant, and other utility pipelines. Troubleshoot leaks, blockages, and sanitation issues promptly. Mechanical & Welding Supervise welding and fabrication for structural modifications (e.g., machine frames, factory layout changes). Ensure the safe operation of compressors, boilers, and other electrical-driven systems. Enforce strict safety standards in all welding and mechanical repairs. Installation & Modification Plan and execute the installation of new machines, utilities, and factory infrastructure. Modify plant layouts to improve workflow or accommodate new production requirements. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all utilities and equipment. Lead rapid response efforts to breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Safety & Compliance Ensure full compliance with electrical, fire safety, and environmental regulations. Train staff on safe handling of utilities and emergency procedures. Vendor & Contractor Management Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations. Negotiate service contracts and monitor the quality of all outsourced work. Team Leadership Lead and supervise a team of electricians, plumbers, welders, and maintenance staff. Assign tasks, monitor performance, conduct appraisals, and provide ongoing training. Perform other duty when assigned by direct supervisor.
