Description

Work on identifying, isolating, locking out, tagging out as well as connecting/disconnecting, taking out/replacing basic electrical installations/components such as lighting fixtures, socket outlets, emergency lighting, distribution panels and components, cable reticulation arrangements and such other electrical components in the assigned area. Performs basic inspection and monitoring tasks such as taking electrical records, measuring voltage, resistance and current flow, tidying up panel boards, making sure HVAC and such other installations are working correctly and as expected. The role involves applying fundamental electrical knowledge and organizing electrical tools to assist in troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting installing, operating and testing or otherwise servicing automated, electromechanical, or electro-pneumatic equipment in support of efficient machine operations. The role is devised to assist in unleash machine capability and reduce down-time and related losses towards the end goal of producing iconic beverage products that continuously exceed the quality, safety & environmental standards and targets prescribed in BGI Ethiopia’s food safety and QSHE policy.  Identify electrical equipment installed in the assigned area together with their corresponding voltage and current ratings.  Identify and operate (if need be) isolating components such as circuit breakers, maintenance switches, isolators, fuse links etc that supply power to the electrical components of interest in the assigned area Lockout and tag out electrical components to make them ready for maintenance intervention as per the safety and work permit protocols. Connect/disconnect, take out/replace basic electrical components such as lighting fixtures, socket outlets, batteries etc as and when instructed by the relevant.  Inspect cable reticulation arrangements such as cable trunks, cable trays, cable ladders, conduits etc to identify and possible damage to electrical cables and installations. Inspect control panels and make sure cable routing is appropriate, cable trunks are closed, panel boards are neat and tidy, cooling and ventilation systems are working, fan filters are regularly cleaned and air flow to the cabinets is not obstructed.  Inspect control panel components such as contactors, relays, circuit breakers, fuses etc are in good working condition, report if overheating, frying, sparking, arcing etc is noticed  Inspect heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment are working properly in the assigned area. Fill out electrical records such as volts, currents, resistance and energy meter readings into the available forms, sheets and my energy environment as may be instructed Work on organizing electrical workshop equipment, hand tools and components to make the area comply to safety, method and 5s lean manufacturing requirements.  Identify electropneumatic, electrohydraulic and electromagnetic components in area of assignment to understand mode of operation as well as to inspect irregularities in the operation.  Understand basic electrical drawing concepts and apply those in identifying anomality in the installation and/or operation present in the assigned area. Conduct basic preventive and autonomous maintenance on motors, pumps, drive systems, etc as and when assigned by the relevant.  Ensure the 5 S & organization of the Workshop as per defined rules. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager/ team leader/Senior Electrician.
