Data Engineer, Retail Banking Transformation (Helsinki/Oulu)
Description
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a major transformation project in retail banking! You'll get to work with modern technologies and develop solutions that turn data into a true business asset - together with an experienced team. You'll work with a team responsible for process development and management in Retail Banking. You'll be part of a journey where we take significant steps toward process mining and real-time, data-driven decision-making.
The position is based in Helsinki or Oulu, based on your preference. We combine on-site and remote work flexibly in our daily routines.
What is the role about?
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Retail Banking Transformation journey. You'll play an important role in a large-scale transformation, working with technologies like Azure, Databricks, Python, and Spark, and collaborating closely with an experienced team.
In this role, you will build and develop data solutions that enable modern banking operations: design and implement scalable data infrastructure, manage data flows, and drive solutions forward with the team to support business decision-making and enhance customer experience. You'll collaborate closely with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure data is utilized securely, efficiently, and purposefully.
What do we expect from you?
To succeed in this role, you will master key data engineering technologies such as Databricks, Python, and Spark. You have expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, and SQL, and you understand the importance of high-quality data structures in supporting business needs. Experience deg and building data flows for both batch and real-time solutions is essential, and version control with Git tools is a natural part of your workflow.
You work comfortably in an Azure environment and are familiar with Databricks Unity Catalog-or are ready to learn it quickly. We value experience with CI/CD pipelines and consider it an important part of modern data engineering practices.
We value a versatile technical background and prior experience in similar roles. Strong English skills are required, and knowledge of Finnish is a plus. Most importantly, we are looking for someone eager to learn, grow with us, and take ownership of their work.
