Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer for our new AI & Analytics unit. You'll get to work with most comprehensive customer data in Finland, which we use for the benefit of our customers. In this role, you will tackle demanding entities that combine technical decisions, stakeholder needs, and reliable delivery. About the job

As a Senior Data Engineer, you have a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of data utilization. We are building data solutions that serve one of Finland's largest and most diverse customer environments and right now, we are taking a big step forward. You will work closely with marketing and media experts in SOK Media organization and be their trusted person for technical data questions. SOK Media is responsible for S Group's communications, marketing and channels, as well as developing Yhteishyvä - one of Finland's most respected magazine media.

In this role, you will personally implement data integrations and develop a data platform that enables advanced marketing and media use cases. Solutions cover everything from deg the architecture of data integrations, building infrastructure, implementing data pipelines, and modelling data in databases. You will ensure that data quality monitoring and maintenance are at a high level, and that data products are reliable and widely available. Most of your teammates in the functional team will be data engineers.

You will be supported by your home unit, which includes over 40 data, AI, and analytics professionals working across different business areas. Successful execution requires seamless collaboration with key people from other data domains in a Data Mesh environment. As a more experienced professional, you guide and advise other team members in everyday technical practices to boost the performance of the whole team. The role requires professional skills in Finnish.

Ourworkplace is at Ässäkeskus in Vallila, Helsinki. We work in a hybrid model, but successful performance in this role requires at least 2-3 days per week in the office.

What we are hoping from you

Technical expertise:

  • Strong expertise in data modelling, building and orchestrating data pipelines, and years of practical experience in building data infrastructure, data integrations, and databases.

  • Strong technical skills in the data domain (AWS, Snowflake, dbt) and practical programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL).

  • Strong skills in further processing and utilizing data.

  • Ability to assess the suitability of new technologies to meet business needs.

General:

  • Business- and customer-oriented thinking, seeing data as products.

  • Ability to take leadership and ownership of solutions within your area of responsibility.

  • Proactive and forward-driving approach.

  • Ability to comprehend complex entities and dependencies.

  • Continuous desire to learn and develop new things.

  • Professional communication skills in both Finnish and English.

  • At least five years of experience in similar challenging roles.

  • Nice to have: Experience in the media or marketing sector
