Head of engineering

We are looking for a Head of engineering to join Dataforest and lead our engineering team. This is a leadership role focused on driving engineering processes, team growth, and technical decision-making, rather than hands-on coding. You will work closely with stakeholders to build scalable solutions and lead a growing engineering team.

Key Responsibilities: Lead and scale the engineering team (current and planned size: (20–25 engineers). Take ownership of engineering processes, delivery, and team performance. Drive technical decision-making and ensure scalable, high-quality solutions. Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to align technical and business goals. Build and improve development processes, workflows, and best practices. Mentor engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture. Ensure effective planning, prioritization, and execution across the team.

Requirements: 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles (Tech Lead / Team Lead). Proven experience managing teams of 15+ engineers. Strong background in backend development (Python / Django). Experience in scaling teams and processes in product or complex projects. Solid understanding of software architecture and system design. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Nice to have: Experience transitioning from hands-on engineering to leadership roles. Experience in fintech / payments domain.
