Job Title- EMS Engineer (SCADA / Power Systems) Location- Remote Objectives: We are seeking an EMS Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and validation of the electric transmission network model and real-time contingency analysis (RTCA) within National Grid s Energy Management System (EMS). This role ensures accurate system representation and reliable grid operations through modeling, analysis, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. This engagement is designed to achieve the following key objectives: Model Improvements: Enhance the State Estimator (SE) model, focusing primarily on integrating recent modifications to the electric grid Stakeholder Alignment: Coordinate all implemented model changes with personnel Result Impacts: Ensure there is not a negative impact to Contingency Analysis by adding any contingency adjustments associated with the recent construction project Knowledge Transfer: Deliver targeted training to existing personnel, equipping them to support similar electric grid reconfigurations in the future Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain EMS network models using tools such as AspenTech Monarch, GE e-terrasource or Hitachi Network Manager. Configure and maintain Real Time Contingency Analysis, State Estimator, and Power Flow applications. Analyze contingency scenarios and provide operational recommendations. Maintain and update Load Shed and Voltage Reduction Plans in EMS databases. Coordinate modeling and data exchange with ISO/RTOs and neighboring utilities. Troubleshoot data acquisition issues including RTU protocols (DNP3.0), ICCP links, and communication circuits. Design, configure, and maintain graphical displays for transmission SCADA. Ensure accurate representation of field assets and network topology. Collaborate with operators to enhance display usability and situational awareness. Qualifications : Must be located within the United States due to CNI security policies. Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field. Preferably 3+ years of EMS or SCADA engineering experience with applications from Hitachi, GE, Aspentech, or Aveva Work experience adding and maintaining topology and telemetry within a production EMS environment Familiarity with modeling tools and protocols (ICCP, DNP3, Modbus). Experience with Unix/Linux, SQL, scripting (Python, Perl, Powershell), and network troubleshooting. Familiarity with NERC/CIP & TOP standards and cybersecurity practices
