Finance Transformation Trainee (Public Sector/Technology)

We are now looking for two Finance Transformation Trainees to join our Finance Transformation consulting team in Helsinki: one with public sector focus and one with technology implementation focus. We would like you to start your 4-month Trainee period in August 2026. Our goal is that as many Trainees as possible continue with us also after the Trainee period or after graduating. Read more about the Trainee period in general here . Your role As a Finance Transformation Trainee you will learn about diverse aspects of finance function and the leading practices to develop it. Our key priority is to engage you directly in client projects. Other Trainee tasks can include e.g. assisting us in Deloitte surveys and discussion papers: you get to help with data gathering, analysis (such as KPI-metrics) and in visualizing the data in presentations. Your tasks may also include helping with our client projects, for example preparing client materials and proposals. As a Trainee you are a valued part of our team, and we are interested to hear what other kind of strengths and skills you may have. In general, we are looking for motivated students who are finalising their studies or recent graduates who are interested in the broad domain of finance transformation from strategy to implementation. Despite being in the same function, the roles and focus areas of Trainees we're looking for differs a bit, please familiarize yourself with them here: Public sector focused role: Deloitte is one of the leading advisory firms for Government & Public Sector, and our industry-focused professionals work with Finnish public organizations in e.g. healthcare, justice and defense, cities, infrastructure and transport. In our Finance Transformation consulting team, we advise the CFO’s and other public sector leaders in developing the finance function and addressing various challenges related to finance strategy, operating model, process development, IT architecture, technology-enabled transformations, and more. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in finance transformation with exposure to the challenges and considerations specific to the Finnish public sector. We are seeking a highly motivated Finance Transformation Trainee with a genuine passion to drive positive change in the public sector and eagerness to gain both functional and industry expertise. Technology implementation focused role: Deloitte aims to be our clients’ end-to-end advisor in finance technology supporting from early advisory to implementation and operating the solutions we build. We advise the CFO in their decision making around finance IT architecture and developing best of breed finance IT solutions for clients from various industries in a variety of finance transformation agendas. As our technology implementation focused Trainee you will be strenghtening our implementation capabilities. Typical examples of your future projects could cover: defining the future IT architecture, building a technology implementation business case and roadmap, developing and adopting cutting edge finance technologies (e.g.  Basware AP Automation, High Radius, ServiceNow, etc.), implementing the solution configurations and customization, building integrations, supporting in testing and cutover activities. We also hope that you have: A recent master’s degree or ongoing master studies (e.g., in Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Management or Engineering, Data Science) Great MS Office suite skills, especially Excel and Power Point For the technology implementation focused position, we especially appreciate: Experience/interest in finance technologies (such as Basware AP Automation) and their implementations is seen as an asset Previous work experience with technology solutions is considered an advantage Fluent written and oral skills in English, preferably also in Finnish For the public sector focused position, we especially appreciate: Interest in technology-enabled finance transformation for Government and Public Sector Previous work experience in finance function or public sector is considered an advantage Fluent written and oral skills in Finnish and English To be considered for this Trainee position, a prerequisite is that you are currently allowed to work in Finland, holding a valid residence permit if required.
