AI Automation Engineer (Data Products)
Description
CGI Montréal is hiring a Senior AI/Automation Engineer to industrialize how data products are designed, built, and operated for clients in the manufacturing sector. You will apply and integrate existing AI and automation frameworks (including MCP) to standardize and accelerate data-product creation across the lifecycle— from intake and design to deployment and monitoring.
Key responsibilities • Design & implement automation: Map current workflows and deliver AI/automation pipelines using AI models and the MCP framework. • Integrate with the platform: Operationalize AI/automation within data stacks (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, SAP BW integrations), aligning with governance and lifecycle processes. • Standardize & reuse: Build patterns, templates, and generators (schemas, code scaffolds, CI/CD jobs) for repeatable, AI-ready data products. • Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, architects, and business teams to deliver high-quality, compliant data products. • Operational excellence: Implement observability, monitoring, testing, and quality gates for automation pipelines (DataOps). • Contracts & catalog: Automate data contracts and improve discoverability via the data product catalog. • Innovation: Track and trial emerging automation frameworks and AI-assisted development practices.
Qualifications • 10+ years in data/AI architecture, workflow automation, or platform engineering (open to strong 7–10+ profiles with relevant impact). • Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric (or similar modern platforms), SAP BW integration, and MCP server/workflow implementation. • Strong coding: Python, SQL; experience with orchestration/automation frameworks (e.g., Airflow/Azure Data Factory/GitHub Actions/Terraform). • Solid grasp of governance & DataOps (lineage, monitoring, observability, lifecycle management, security). • Proven track record creating enterprise-scale automation patterns and rolling them out to teams. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to translate business needs into AI/automation solutions. • Bilingual (French/English); hybrid work model in Montréal.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80.000–$155,000 This role is an a future opportunity.
