Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or higher with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
Role Overview The Site Reliability Engineer in this position is responsible for providing technical support for a variety of complex applications. This role requires in-depth technical knowledge and the use of specialized tools to monitor and support systems, as well as the ability to perform technical analysis and resolve issues. Key Responsibilities • Guide troubleshooting of incidents and the implementation of corrective actions as necessary. • Utilize technical tools for system monitoring and support, applying expert analysis to resolve issues. • Collaborate with external vendor representatives who interact with internal applications. • Develop both short- and long-term solutions for daily issues, including defect resolution and addressing recurring problems. • Integrate monitoring, alerting, availability, and uptime features into applications to minimize repetitive tasks and improve reliability. • Stay informed about industry standards and technology trends relevant to the organization. • Drive process enhancements, improve communication, and optimize delivery through innovative practices from discovery through deployment. • Focus on automation, dashboard development, continuous service improvement, elimination of repetitive tasks, and proactive measures to reduce recurring issues and changes. • Work with developers and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve problems. • Collaborate with development teams to document production issues requiring code changes and assist in validating and closing defects. • Manage incidents that impact customers, including assessment of business impact, technical resolution, engagement, and communication. • Assess, prioritize, and assign monitoring alerts and system events appropriately. • Update and maintain the knowledgebase with support information, such as known errors and their solutions, and provide clarifications on identified data issues. • Work closely with the problem review team to continuously track and address known system issues. • Escalate incidents to appropriate support or external teams, including product vendors, as needed. • Develop repeatable processes and metrics to maximize uptime, reliability, and predictability. Must-Have Skills • Outstanding oral and written communication skills. • Ability to adopt best practices and standards while remaining flexible and open to suggestions. • Comprehensive knowledge of various SDLC methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile. • Working knowledge of mainframes and SQL Server or equivalent systems. • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and Zenoss (preferred). • Familiarity with batch scheduling tools like Zeke and Zena. • Knowledge of ITIL tools, such as ServiceNow. • Experience with Z/OS, MVS, and related tools and languages (TSO, ISPF, COBOL, Easytrieve, JCL, IBM utilities, SORT, FileAid, Xpediter, ChangeMan, AbendAid). • Expertise in problem resolution, specifically for CICS and MQ on z/OS, including coordination with programming application users to resolve system application problems. • Experience working with cloud infrastructure platforms such as Azure and AWS. • Background in software engineering and site reliability engineering. • Hands-on knowledge of APIs, web services, and microservices from an SRE/support perspective.
